“Trapped”, Oil on linen, 50 x 40 cm

Charity exhibition in aid of research into brain diseases

This painting was painted for the exhibition “Kunst doet Leven, Hersenen in Beeld”. All proceeds of the sale will go to the organisation HCHWA-D

‘The golden cage is open. In life one can often feel “Trapped” due to a certain routine you have found yourself in. Through awareness one ought to realise one can choose to ‘break free’, even if it requires a lot of courage at times. But in some cases, as with brain diseases, one doesn’t have a choice and can feel trapped within oneself. The pigeon brings hope and salvation. The alfa and omega signs stand for the beginning and the end. The painting is a sketch symbolising our life as a fleeting sketch here on earth.’
